How to combine stretch ceiling and ceiling curtains?
Ceiling curtains are often used in modern versions of the design of window openings. But sometimes there is a need to combine the suspended ceiling with such curtains. Fortunately, this is quite feasible from a technical point of view, and there are as many as two options for fixing the ceiling curtains and the ceiling panel.
The design of the windows, which was called “ceiling curtains”, is a method of “hidden” mounting of the cornice onto which the falling down fabric is attached. That is, curtains, tulle or curtains themselves can look anything and be sewn from a variety of fabrics.
PVC film from which ceiling panels are made is a material that may suffer as a result of cuts, punctures or forcing. Curtain rails can be harmful if not installed carefully or later – if it is too heavy. Therefore, only light plastic (maximum – aluminum) curtain rods can be fixed to the ceiling of PVC film.
The first method of fastening the eaves
This method is simpler, but the cornice with it will still be visible, visually placed on the ceiling.
The bottom line is that before you stretch the ceiling panel, at the place intended for the eaves, mark the level at which the film will be located. And a strong wooden bar is nailed over this line, so that it is located just below the marking, literally on a lily with a film. As a result, the film for the stretch ceiling will touch the bar in this place. Then, on the panel under the bar, gently burn holes for mounting the eaves with screws, and fasten the cornice to the bar so that a section of film remains clamped between them.
The result is a cornice that is visually located on a stretch ceiling.
The second way how to make the hidden eaves under a tension ceiling
This is a more time-consuming option, but in the end – the eaves will not be visible at all, the curtains will visually fall from the ceiling right away! It is done this way: the eaves themselves are fastened with dowels to the architectural ceiling. Then along it, also on the main ceiling, a wooden beam is fixed – a frame construction for the ceiling will be fixed on it. The remaining three sides of this structure runs along the three walls of the room where there are no windows. When the ceiling is stretched, it covers the niche in which the cornice is fixed.
For careful installation in any of the ways, the experience of the masters is required – it is better not to perform these works yourself so as not to spoil the materials.
